Echo Sound Works shows you how to make stacked chords in Sylenth.Fundamental sounds for House, Deep House and Garage!
If you’ve ever listened to a Deep House track chances are you’ve heard stacked chords. They originated with the birth of House and Deep House. Basically, back in the day producers would sample a minor or major chord and then pitch that sampled chord up and down over the keys. So every key played made a chord sound. That technique has been a staple to a lot of House genres to this day.
Making stacked chords in Sylenth is really easy to do. You can apply these tips to any sound.
First, find or make a 3 to 4 oscillator preset that is using both PART A and PART B. You need both parts to create stacked chords in Sylenth because any chord requires three or more notes.
All you have to do is pitch the note values up in the note box to create a chord in the 3 to 4 oscillators that are active.
To make a minor chord you need to have one oscillator set to 0, one set to +3 and the other set to +7. That will create a minor chord in root positions.
Inversely, to create a major stack all you have to do is pitch the +3 up to +4.
Check out the video to see how to make stacked chords in Sylenth that have 4 notes like a Minor 7th chord.
